How to Create a working Unique Selling Proposition

No matter what type of business you’re in, you always need a Unique Selling Proposition. It could be anything – from a slogan to a symbol, or sometimes, it can be any interactive images to represent your company products.

Some Offline Examples of Excellent USP

USP is not a new term. It was coined by a famous expert in marketing, Rosser Reeves. According to Reeves, USP is one of many ways to differentiate your business with others.

For instance, USP of BMW always strongly connects with the slogan “Ultimate Driving Machine”. It’s the slogan that follows this famous car makers for many years and the USP insists customers that BMW cars are the most excellent among luxury cars in the world.

Another USP that I like is the advertisement of Meyer’s Rum. On the advertisement page is the image of an old man and the statement “OLD AND NOT IMPROVED”. Through this slogan, the firm wants to announce that the quality of its rum never changes and its taste is one of the best through many years.

The last USP that I love is of Durex firm. If you have a chance to see many of its advertisements, you will see that the company always try to market itself as a cheap solution for men to prevent other problems later and the company always try to satisfy every demand of customers.

A Example of Online USP

USP can also be applied to blogs and online business. One of the examples of excellent USP is the ThinkTraffic blog. I really like from the slogan of this blog to the content. All of them advertise for only one USP, to bring you latest tips to bring traffic for your blog.

How You Can Create A Excellent USP

USP can be reflexed through many things in your firm – from your customer service to products/services. The key tip here is to choose the most 3 notable characteristics about your business that customers must remember.

And according to my experience, nothing can make customers remember about your company than creating a product to solve their problems.

In case you can’t think of a new product to solve a new problem, you could try to improve an existing problem with a better product.

For instance, Technshare is a diversified blog with many articles about different topics. So, we can take that diversity as an USP of this blog and create a slogan about this diversity. It could be “Any internet marketing tips you could read” , right?

Lastly, I just want you to observe your current products/services and find some remarkable points that customers should remember about it. If you don’t have any then make one, make a unique characteristic that you think will make customers to impress and create your own USP from here.

Yes it is true that slogan s have too much importance. As these reflects your aim and tell others what you do. These reflect your passion and interest in your work. And the first thing that a user read when come to a site is the slogan behind or with the logo of the company. And then the line “first impression is the last impression” works here. USP (User Selling Proposition) is a marketing concept and a theory that explains a pattern. It changes a visitor to a customer.

Hi,
Very critical point has been raised. Yes, slogan or a USP reflects the aim behind your business venture and your business product.
Identifying the three notable characteristics of your product is good, plus, I would like to add that in order to generate a catchy slogan ask yourself that why I am here, what is the objective behind all this activity, what change my business could bring in the community, how could I and my business be helpful to others. Just brainstorm over these questions for a while, you would definitely come out with a good USP. Because a thing that is honest and truly defines a business objective, works for sure.

Yes, Unique Selling Proposition is something that every business requires and it has been nicely explained here. What is more important is the guidance to have an excellent USP, otherwise the USP will not be much effective. So this is a good article and an important one as well.
