3. Contextual Ads: Another great way to make money from your blog is my making use of contextual ads such as Google Adsense and the likes.
When trying to make money online using this method, it is very important to optimize your ads very well, you might want to make it blend with your site.
Traffic is the most important thing when trying to make money online but in a situation like this, traffic is of little importance. When I was still using Adsense, I had 1500 impressions with 26 clicks and I made less than $1 (my placement was really worse).
Another thing is to make sure you have a good click through rate (ctr), this is calculated by how may people clicked out of 100 people. If you have a high CTR then you will make more money but if you have a low CTR you will make less – having a good ad placement can help you improve your CTR.
4. Banner Ads: Another great way to make money from your blog is by selling banner advertisement on your blog, you can either contact companies individually or make use of third party websites.
The amount you can make from banner ads will be determined by the size of your audience. If you have a small audience size then you might find it difficult to get big advertisers but if you have a big audience size, the advertisers will even be the one after you.
It is very important to charge low fees when just starting because this will make the advertiser want to buy from you, you might also want to give them a few days trial and if they like the result they will become a long term advertiser.
5. Affiliate Marketing: Affiliate marketing is one of the easiest ways to make money online, all you have to do is select a good offer from a merchant and then look for how to drive traffic to it. This concept can also be used in blogging. You can either decide to promote affiliate products on your blog through banner ads or by reviewing the affiliate products on your blog. It is very important not to promote just any product but only high quality products that you trust.

Thanks for sharing this Oni! Blogging is one of the great way to earn passive income online. As long as you know the methods on how it works, there’s no way that you can make money blogging. I also like the idea of affiliate marketing through blogging. If you have a large readers base just like johnchow.com, then you will really earn a lot of money recommending products from other people.
I also like the “banner ads” type of making money. If you are getting tons of traffic to your blog, then selling advrtising space can make you another income stream, and again, it’s a passive income.

As I see things, the best blog monetization technique currently available has to be affiliate marketing. There are a lot of methods on using affiliate links and those seem to have pretty high conversion ratios, in contrast to contextual advertisements such as Adsense, which are rather ineffective.

I’m still very much on the fence about many of these because my blog is still only a little over 2 months old now so I don’t want to go sending people off just yet.
One thing to remember though is your reader vs. “through” traffic. You’ll obviously want to capture some of the through traffic but the others, if you can have them click on your ads as they’re leaving you can really benefit.

Another way earning from your blog is flip it. Some bloggers build a blog in massive time and flip it for profit. Sometimes I see people earn 300 for a 1 month established blog so you may consider this approach as other approaches.

well inevitably as what @Shawn has mentioned, we ought to get a decent amount of traffic in first before even try on making money online with it.
Therefore, my advice for any new budding bloggers, do not just build the blog for the sake of making money online. That won’t do if you are too focused on just the money. instead, provide valuable information and content.. always keeping the best interest of your readers in mind. then eventually as you make up and improve, you can look forward to such methods to monetize your blog. in fact, i bet there are still many ways to go around making money online with it.
Content is king and traffic is erm..’queen’? =P ( you get the idea )

I believe that trying to make money through blogging is not a very viable strategy. It works for some… but meh.
It’s best to provide tons of good info and build up rep, then do a big launch and over deliver. Rinse & repeat. You’ll be set for good.
