How To Increase Your Incoming Guest Posts

How To Increase Your Incoming Guest Posts

What do you do when you need a guest post for your blog and no one’s responding to your invitations?

Have you ever been in dire need of fresh content for your blog, but there’s no time to write and no matter how many times you post an announcement that you are “Now Accepting Guest Posts!” – your in-box remains empty? Now you’ve got to skip a day and leave your blog stagnant, yet another day.

Everyday you leave your blog untouched, you loose traffic and reduce the chance that your blog will reach new readers. No new content means no new retweets, Stumbles, or shares on Facebook or other social networks. No new update means your blog is not growing – it’s sitting stagnant.

Of course, everywhere you look you read about the benefits of guest posting on other blogs, but you rarely read about where to find guest posts for YOUR blog.

It’s true guest posting is the best way to grow your blog – it gets you the exposure you need and brings in traffic and new subscribers like no other method. But it has a downside (link to old post) – it may hinder your ability to keep up with your own blog’s need for fresh content. With so many guest posts going out to others, how do you keep your own blog updated?

What do you when you need guest posts, but no one seems to be interested in submitting anything to your blog?

You can organize a guest post contest, but without lots of sponsors for cash prizes, you might not get very many quality submissions.

Thankfully, Ann Smarty has come to the rescue with her new site and forum – MyBlogGuest.   She’s recently added the ability to search a gallery of submitted guest posts that you may use for your blog.

This feature used to be a premium member only benefit, but now it’s open to everyone.

You can visit this site and find guest posts, already written and ready for publication. How awesome is that?

So the next time you’re in a pinch and need fresh, unique content for your blog, jump over to MyBlogGuest.

Have you been trying increase your incoming guest posts? Do you think this is a service that could help you? What other tips could you offer bloggers who need more guest posts for their blog?

Hi Kiesha,

Thanks for sharing the alternate perspective. We hear mostly about writing guest posts, not receiving them.

I’ve hard a similar experience when asking for guest posts in the past. This sounds like an awesome idea.

Thanks for sharing with us :)

Richard from Lifestyle Design Unleashed September 6, 2010 at 10:35 am

When I am looking to write guest posts for other blogs I often search in Google for related phrases to find blogs that readily accept guest posts.

For example I might search for “[niche] write for us” or “[niche] submit article” so creating a dedicated page on your blog that targets these types of keyword phrases, and then explains what you’re looking for from guest posts is, I think, a very smart idea and will increase the number of submissions you get.

Of course in addition the more popular your blog is (in terms of most metrics – traffic, links, PR etc.) the more benefit there will be to guest bloggers and so the more submissions you will normally receive.

in this way standard marketing of your site should also increase submissions. After all, would you rather get a post published on CopyBlogger (for example) or “BlogYouHaveNeverHeardOf.com” ?!

From my understanding, they are supposed to be unique, however, I can’t guarantee anything, all I can say, is try them out – it’s easy to check to see if the content has been duplicated, just type in a sentence or two as a google search and see what comes up.

I skimmed the comments to see if this was mentioned; I’m a little surprised to see it wasn’t…

You’re right, “It’s true guest posting is the best way to grow your blog – it gets you the exposure you need and brings in traffic and new subscribers like no other method.”

Every blogger I read, lots and lots, has written about it on their blogs.

Well, no offense intended to anyone, but if it is sooo good, and sooo well known, then if you’re having THAT much trouble getting them, I’d say it’s time to look internally also.

Any good guest blogger worth their weight is going to thoroughly investigate the blogs offering openings.

Stats aside, if your content…generally speaking…sucks, no real guest blogger is gonna want an association. Sorry.

MGB is not going to help in this situation.

Contests might, but with another problem. Their only going to be there for a prize, and few will give you near their best work.

Something to think about…
