How To Get Long Laster And Targeted Traffic From Twitter

Twitter is a super and huge micro blog site where people share what they are doing to another. Like Facebook, Twitter has millions users who tweet everyday. But in my opinion Twitter is much easier to get traffic and advertising. Twitter has proven to be a solid network that continues to grow each day. It’s addictive, it‟s fun and it’s a fantastic way to tap into your niche markets, find out what people are actively  looking  to purchase, and even  keep a pulse on what your competition is up to. Internet Marketers are specially  focusing  on  Twitter  these  days, developing  new  strategies  every  day.  They  are  working  hard  to  gain  the maximum benefit out of all  that  Twitter offers.

How to Post on Twitter

Now  here  comes  the  point,  the  hard  part,  posting  all  the  content mentioned above takes a lot of time and effort, and not to forget, it should be regular and daily. To help on this manual labor, there are various ways to choose from. There are websites  like HootSuite which allows you  to  schedule the tweets as much as  one  year  ahead  in  time,  it  automatically  sends  a tweet at the date and time specified by you. Though it takes a few days scheduling all the tweets for the year but  still it pays off when you do not have to worry about them for the rest of the year.

Next  are  the  softwares  that  are  commercially  available,  like  Tweet Attack. They  really  speed up  the process and pays  for  itself within a very  short period in terms of traffic generated and money earned because of it. But make  sure  you do  not Over-Schedule  your  list,  i.e., do  not  schedule everything.  Post  tweets  daily  as well  regarding  to  changing market  demands and day to day needs. Keeping in view the general mood of your followers, the content  you  send  as  tweets  should  be  varied  from  decent  to  funny  and
interesting.

What to Post on Twitter

There  is  obviously  one  thing  that  you  would  absolutely  require,  Followers. Remember  followers  only  “follow”  if  you  have  unique  content  ready  for  them each  time  they  read  a  tweet  that  has  been  originated  by  you.  The recommended content that should be posted in your twitter feed is:

  1. 1 . Great Motivational Quotes  [regarding  to  the  niche of  your  business,  say women, sports, etc]
  2. A  back-link  to  your  articles  or  blogs  that  you  have  hosted  on  your websites.
  3. A quick tip/how to do sort of line that relates to your business.
  4. Last but not the least, a link to the product page you are promoting.

Motivational quotes are loved by many and they are the most common thing that is re-tweeted over and over again by your followers and their friends and in turn their friends. Promoting your content to a great and wide audience, providing your business to grow and your sales to swell up exponentially.

Your  blogs  and  website  pages  are  definitely written/constructed keeping  in view  that your product is  the  thing  that  needs  to be  promoted,  so  if  they  are effectively written and interesting enough to make the reader read through  the  very  end  of  it  then  be  sure many more  potential  customers  are coming your way. All  this because a strong  tag  line and  link to  the article/blog was  tweeted and a person could not  resist opening  that  link, and  reading  the blog makes him/her  feel  the urgent need of buying  that product. This  is a very great example of how twitters helps you grow.

Consider  if  you  are  dealing  in  the  niche  of  computers  and  networking,  if  you post  daily  some  tip  or  piece  of  information  about  computers,  troubleshooting basic  things,  tips  on making  computers  speed  up  then  definitely  it makes  the follower come back  for more.  If he  tries  your  tips and gets  his problem  solved than definitely  he will  re-tweet  your  tip or might  tell  his friends  in peer  to peer communication about you and your twitter feed, bringing in more traffic. Sometimes  it  leads  to people  thanking you and discussing  their problem,  now that makes a great opportunity for you to introduce them with your product that your certain product will make their life easier with the computers and things like  that. Even  that does not always end up  in a  sale but  it counts  towards happy interested potential customers which will come back to you whenever they feel they  are  in  a  problem. Always  remember,  more  traffic  always  means  more money, and it‟s the only thing that you are striving for.

Building A long List of Followers

Now you have now deal with the content part of your twitter feed, now we come  to  the most  important  thing  that needs  to be addressed. You need followers to read your content, how to attract a whole lot of them. In the twitter marketing strategies,  followers are  just  like gold assets because every effort  is  in  vain if there is no one to read through it. Now we shall review how we can bring  more  followers  to  our  twitter  feeds. We  shall  now  start  from  scratch  how  you should take things forward when dealing with twitter.

Creating Your Profile

The first thing you should do as a new twitter user is to set up your profile, so that those visiting your page see that you are active within the community and are far more likely to follow you.

One of the biggest mistakes that new twitter marketers make is in immediately adding contacts to their following list, without having issued out tweets, updated their profile or uploaded a photo of them. This does make sense if you already have an online presence and are simply incorporating your current contacts from your address book or mailing list, but if you are currently working to establish your brand or grow your business, it‟s critical that you develop your twitter presence first, and then add or invite new followers.

Let‟s begin with your profile page,  the entry point  that every potential  follower visits  prior  to  adding  you  as  a  contact. You need  to  make  sure  that  you complete your profile and that you provide useful information about yourself so that  people  can  either  identify  you,  or  at  the  very  least,  know what  you  are offering, what are you  involved  in or what are you  interested  in.  If  it gives  them the  sense  of  uniqueness  in  your  profile  and makes  them  feel  that  you  are  a worthy choice for following, they will not hesitate to click the Follow button.

There are a few different fields relating to your profile that should never be left out,  including  your  full  name and  your website URL.  Since  your  username becomes part of your  twitter profile‟s URL, you  should also make  sure  that you use  a  username  that is  relevant  to  your  market,  niche  or  represents  your business.

You can choose to use your name, if it‟s available for registration, your website URL, business name or simply keywords representing the market you are involved in. It is always recommend that if at all possible, use your full name as your twitter  username, so that your profile URL is structured like this:

http://twitter.com/Creative-Ideas

or

http://twitter.com/CreativeIdeas

Appearing in Search Results

One thing that a lot of people don‟t know is that the keywords featured within your actual twitter profile URL tie directly in with twitters  built  in  search  utility,  meaning  that whenever  someone  searches  for  information  using specific  keywords,  twitter searches  through  profiles  and usernames to pull relevant search results. This means  that  you  should always  include  your primary  keywords within your profile  fields,  including your bio area,  so  that you are  far more  likely  to be included  in  search results  each  time  someone  enters  in  a  relevant  keyword associated  with  your market.  This makes  a  greater  chance  of showing  up  to someone and makes them follow you. Separate keywords with comma’s so that each keyword is individually placed:

Example:   Writer, Online Business, Articles, Internet Marketer

Writing Great Tweets

When you are satisfied with your account, it‟s time to write your first tweet! This can make people a  little anxious, especially  since once you post a  tweet, everyone who visits  your profile or chooses  to  follow you will be able  to  see  it.But do not let your anxiousness waste your first chance, since it will serve as a first glance  to  your  potential  customers,  and  you  definitely  won‟t  like  the  first impression  to  be  bad.  But  Luckily,  with  twitter,  if  you  ever  want  to  delete  a message  that you previously  sent out, all you have  to do  is click on  the  tweet, look  for  the  trash can  icon and click  it,  to delete  your message  from  the  time line. But be sure to do that before anybody reads it.

Sometimes people over-thinking about  their creation spoil  it, don‟t spend a  lot  of  time  worrying  about  whether  it‟s  creative enough,  witty  enough,  or interesting enough. Once  you have become an active member of  the  twitter community, you‟ll find it easier to think of entertaining and useful tweets, and will also be able  to  respond  to ongoing discussions  from  those you  follow and who follow you.The idea is to simply post enough so that you become comfortable with the twitter system, and more importantly, so that your profile page shows activity before you start inviting people to follow you.

Bringing In Followers

Once you‟ve posted your first tweet,  it‟s time to start following people on twitter, so  that you can build up your  twitter presence, and encourage people to  follow  you  in  return. Don‟t  just  sign up and blast out ads every  few minutes expecting to achieve anything but annoying those on your list.

Take  the  time  to  talk  to  people  individually  by  directing  messages  to specific people, post useful  information or  links  to  free products and  resources that  people  in  your  various  niche  markets  would appreciate.  Just  like  anything  else  you  need  to  develop  a  reputation  on  Twitter  as  being  someone who  is  interested  in  helping  others, while  developing your own Twitter presence.

Another great method usually  is  to  follow people  in a hope  that  they will follow you back, which they normally do. Now this following everyone part can be either done manually or even by softwares & websites available.

If you have a mailing list of existing customers whom you send newsletters or daily emails,  Include a  follow me  icon or  link at  the bottom of  your emails. Also, you can email  them with  information about  Twitter, encouraging  them  to join and  follow  you, or  if  they already  have a  twitter account,  you can  notify them directly that you are now using twitter as well.Personal correspondence  is also a great way  to  let your  friends,  family, and colleagues know where to  find you on Twitter. The idea is to make it as accessible as possible for people to find you.

Hold  a  contest  in  order  to  grow  your  list,  perhaps  your  business  offers  a product or a service that you could use as an incentive for people to follow you.Be creative,  there are any number of ways  to entice people  to  follow you on Twitter!

Setting You Apart from All Internet Marketers

There are many things that you can do to set yourself apart from all of the other Internet Marketers  attempting  to  use  Twitter  to  grow  their  lists  or  attract  new customers.  Aside  from  ensuring  that  you  remain  active  within  the  Twitter community,  you  should  spend  some  time  developing  a  reputation  amongst those that are following you.

First, create a squeeze page exclusively for Twitter followers and be sure to thoroughly  explain  exactly what  they will  receive  in  exchange  for  subscribing.Just like you would structure a regular squeeze page, you need to offer a babe or giveaway to entice them into handing over their name, and email address.Offer them a free report or product to warm them up, and promote it via your  tweets  by  emphasizing  that  your  offer  is  available  only  to  fellow  Twitter members.  This way,  you  are  able  to  passively market  your website  and  build your  list by providing valuable  free content  in exchange  for a subscription. This works exceptionally well, especially  if you  focus on building a  list  that  targets a specific niche, rather than creating a broad, generic following base.

You don‟t want  to give away a product  that  is already  saturated online.Try to offer something original, even if it’s a short report or mini-product, the more exclusive  it  is  to  your  list,  the more  likely  that  your  visitors will  subscribe  to  your newsletter.

Just  like  with  every  other  social  community,  your  marketing  campaign needs  to be  tweaked and offered  in a  slightly very different  format  that caters to their desire to network with other like-minded individuals. You have to remember that twitter is a social community and information network, which means  that people don’t  join  the community with  the  intention of buying nor do they want to be constantly marketed to.You need  to balance your  tweets  so  that  you are offering  something of value or interest to your followers, as well as consistently building your brand. If you aren’t sure how to do that, take some time evaluating the way thatseasoned  twitter  marketers  have  created  their  system. Then,  balance  out helpful  tweets with  promotional  based  ones while actively  staying  involved  in the discussion.

If you want to be successful on internet marketing, you should try to dominate Twitter right now.

Twitter  is an
online  social  community  that  allows  you  to  broadcast  short  messages  (140
words) and  updates  to  those  on  your  list,  referred  to as  „followers‟.  Each  time
you  broadcast  a  message,  everyone  who  is  following  you  receives  your
updates.  In truth, on first glance, twitter appears  to be very basic compared to
many  other micro-blogging  communities.

Hoang,

Thanks for this specific and detailed post. I loved this as it was simple (for a newer Twitter user) and easily understandable. I learned a few things that I didn’t know before and I will be able to apply the techniques immediately.

Thanks for such useful guidance. Am going to re-tweet this.

Wow Hoang, this is very precise post. There is lots of good information here. I have spent the last year focusing mostly on search engine traffic and just started using twitter. Being a Twitter ninja isn’t as easy as it sounds. It take a lot of work and skills to effectively market your site on twitter. Thanks for the tips, bookmarked in my tweet tuts folder!

Hi Steve,

You have pretty much covered everything. This is such a wonderful read for me. To me Twitter is a place to build relationships, help people and THEN promote my business or products. So I am so careful about tweeting my own stuff.

I have installed Hootsuite by I am still figuring out getting time to initialize stuff. Many blogging friends of mine are amazed to hear that I am not using Hootsuite yet, I think I must start using it :) I somehow feel comfortable about being an instantaneous tweeter, but that is not a great discipline.

Thanks for the wonderful indepth article. I will need to read this later too.

Cheers,
Jane.

I have close to 15,000 followers but I don’t use any tools. Maybe I should.

Anyway, I have a few more tips to share:
To find people to follow, go to someone you respect in your niche and see who they are following. Follow some of them.
Retweet other people’s tweets when you find them interesting.
Twitter is like a big party so jump in a conversation. It’s acceptable to do this on twitter.
Remember, you don’t want just to tweet out content, you want to connect to others. Show you are a real person.

I have to admit to not being a huge user of Twitter, mostly because I have found it a bit overwhelming and too fast moving. But your tips are solid and I may give it another go.

I especially like your tip of taking new Twitter followers to a dedicated landing page, explaining what they’ll receive for being one of your followers… what to expect, if you will. I can see where this would allow you to stand out from most other Twitter users out there.

Great tip!

Hi Hoang,

You’re right – Twitter has great marketing potential. I find it’s better to link back to your blog before sending people to sales or squeeze pages, but I like the idea of a ‘Twitter Followers only’ offer – that I will try sometime.

It’s a great point as well that some kind of automation is necessary if you’re going to use Twitter as a serious marketing and branding tool. As well as scheduling tweets, I like to use Twitterfeed to automatically Tweet some of my favorite blogs as their new posts are published.

It’s always good to mix it up a bit – some quotes, some content, links to useful stuff, and (of course) some conversation really helps to show people that you’re a person too…

Thanks for sharing mate, nice work.
All the best,

In addition to HootSuite there’s also SproutSocial. And if you’re looking for an easy way to get your blog content to automatically syndicate to your Twitter profile, check out dlvr.it, or ping.fm. Dlvr.it is pretty cool because you can take any RSS feed and have it syndicate to Twitter, so that would work for your Blogger account, Wordpress.com account and others.

Such a nice and edifying post. Thanks Hoang to share these proven ways to increase the worth of account on twitter. One thing which is missing here is, follow those persons who are strongly relevant to your theme or niche. And among them choose those who have minimum followers this increase the life of your tweet. We all know our tweet has very low life on twitter so to grab more and more relevant visitors on twitter is the real art.

I think a lot of people don’t know how to use Twitter. They are stats claiming 90% of Twitter users are spammers which is quite frankly terrible. Interaction and personal presence is something that has to be build up amongst all the noise. Of course this is easier said than done because this requires long term consistent effort.
