If you have started a career from home, or are thinking of starting one, then I would like to share with you some valuable tips to best ensure a 5 figure income. I have been at this business a long time now, and have a few details to share, which you might not have considered yet.
Some of these tips I have implemented from the beginning of my career, while others have evolved as technology and the industry has grown and improved. Regardless, it has all helped boost my business, as well as many others.
So, if you are ready to make some money, read on.
Proper Home Office Setting
First things, first. Before you begin, set up an area in the home that can be dedicated to your business, and not shared with the household. Even if you have already started, read on to make sure you have the proper set up, because it’s vital in having a professional career.
If you can’t find a separate room to call your office, find a corner in a room that can be sectioned off, even if just temporarily with a portable screen. Find a desk to fit that area, which could be any one of the many available l-shape home computer desks, or corner desks out there on the market.
Next, make sure you let everyone in the home know that this is your work area, and when you are at it, you are working. This might sound simplistic, but it’s not. Having a professional environment in the home is not only possible, but it’s important.
Of course, if you have an entire room, it would be easier, but it’s not always possible. So, make the most of what you have available.
Using Backlinks to Increase Your Income
I am going to focus a bit more on backlinking in this article, because there are two ways to go about it, either effectively, or ineffectively. I opt for effectively every time, because it works.
First, a backlink is a link that is on another website linking directly back to your site. However, it’s not just about placing a backlink on any site. There is a bit more to it than that.
We have been asked recently how many backlinks it will take to generate a 5 figure income. The answer isn’t just in how many, but how you do it as well. The key is to place your backlinks on website that are quality in the eye of Google.
This is not about article marketing sites that hold little, if any value to the readers. In fact, steer clear of those sites. Google has a way of weeding through article farm sites. And, you don’t want to be associated with the sites that Google will someday eliminate.
Developing Quality Backlinking
There are basically 4 types of websites when it comes to backlinking. They are as follows:
- Zero Backlinks. It doesn’t matter how much work you put into your website, how creative it is, or even what the topic might be, if you are the only one who will see it. All your hard work and effort will be in vain, if you don’t develop some backlinks on other sites for readers to be guided back to you. Sure, you can do a lot of marketing with business cards, letters to other businesses, or word of mouth. But, you can do so much more by simply using backlinks on quality sites.
- 5 to 10 Articles Distributed on Quality Sites. Starting the process of article distribution is comparable to the backroom work that you probably did for planning your website. You need to find quality sites and blogs that allow for guest content, and then build a rapport with them. For some, this task seems daunting so they don’t do much with it, hoping it will just take off on its own. However, the results will be minimal, with minimal input on your behalf.
- Up to 20 or 30 Distributed Articles. This is quite often what you will see with part time affiliate marketers, and it will generate a fair amount of traffic to the site, leading to a fair amount of income. However, if you are looking for a full time income, this will probably not be enough.
- Serious Affiliates Need Only Apply. If you are serious about working your site, and making decent, full-time income, then this is your category. By distributing 100 to 150 well written articles, it could mean up to 300 links directing right back to your site. Of course this isn’t typically done overnight. But, you could do it in under a year, especially if you have help. By shooting for, and falling into this category, it’s just the beginning of a successful career.
Guest Content is the Way to Go-ogle
The amazing thing about Google is that it has this uncanny way of spotting quality content, and they pamper it. This is why many blogs and sites are now accepting guest content. It has a way of keeping their site current and updated, and draw in more traffic. However, they also allow for links to send traffic your way in return. Everybody wins.
You can easily find the sites in question by searching Google. Although, before you reach out to them, check their guidelines for posting. Also, read some of their current articles to see if yours will mesh with the flow of the site.
Next, make contact with the site’s owner. Don’t send an entire article, but instead, suggest 2 or 3 topics that you believe will be a good fit for them. Once you have established a rapport with 30 or more sites, develop and submit about 10 articles a month over the various sites. Within a year, you will have up to 300 backlinks leading traffic right back to your site.
Eventually you will have enough sales and traffic that you can outsource this task, especially if you are not comfortable with writing the articles, or simply don’t have the time to do so. This will free you up to generate other sources of revenue, and is a direct path for significant growth.
Having the Tools of the Trade
I just want to quickly touch base on having the proper equipment. I mentioned earlier about having the right set up for a work space, but tools of the trade are equally important. Of course, it will depend on what your niche is, on what tools will be best for you.
For example, if you plan on hosting meetings, webinars, or conferencing with other affiliates or assistants you might want to look into video conferencing solutions. This will allow you to conduct official business from around the world, without leaving the home.
Other tools you might look into are various types of software, smart phones, or a portable tablet. Some of these offer ways of communicating, as well as working on an issue that might flare up while you are away from your desk.
Technology is always on the run with new and exciting products. I find it’s best to stay on top of what is available, so I can stay on top of my career.
I am interested in hearing what you have to say about this. If you have questions, or something you would like to share, please leave it in the comment box below.
