How And Where to get blog Post Ideas?

One of the most critical things of blogging is no ideas to post. People start blogging on a topic in which they have good knowledge to share. But after some time they realize that they have shared everything that they know. And now they have no more knowledge to post articles on that topic. A lot of bloggers have this problem. So, today i want o share 4 Great websites to find blog post ideas.

Before getting into the discussion, here are few tips that you should read

4 great websites to Find Blog Post Ideas

AllTop

Alltop aggregates the best blogs in each niche and displays the five most current headlines.  Mouse over a title and read an excerpt to see if the story interests you.  Feeds are updated once an hour.  A team of “real” people review blogs to see if they are worthy.

StumbleUpon

Stumbleupon is a very good source of certified interesting and valuable information. I say “certified”, because information on these sites is posted by readers like you and I who find it interesting enough to be shared with others.

Delicious

Similar to Stumbleupon, Delicious has it’s own popular page which you can sort by tags which are related to your industry. With emphasis on the power of the community, Delicious greatly improves how people discover, remember and share on the Internet.

By looking at popular bookmarks for a tag, you’ll be able to discover the most interesting bookmarks on the topics you’re most interested in.

Yahoo Answers

One of those great places you can find questions by real people online is Yahoo answers. On yahoo answers all kind of questions about every topic imaginable is asked. So head to Yahoo Answers and search for keywords related to your niche and answer these questions on your blog.

How And Where other Bloggers Get Blog Post Ideas?

Note: the order of opinions listed here was regarding respond to my email, nothing else.

Corbett Barr  from ThinkTraffic says –

Blog post ideas come unpredictably throughout the day, but rarely when I sit down to write. I carry around a notebook with me and jot down ideas as they come, and then keep a list of those ideas ready for whenever I need to write. Most of my posts and ideas are based on personal experience and things I’ve struggled with.

Jean Berg-Sarauer from VirginBloggerNotes says –

I used to spend a lot of time waiting for inspiration to strike me like a lightning bolt. Then I realized that the posts that resonate the most with Virgin Blogger Note’s readers are those that arise from examining my own thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Now, I ask myself questions like: What are your greatest challenges right now? What would you like to learn about? What things have made blogging easier for you lately? The answers to questions like these provide solid foundations for building useful, entertaining posts for readers on the same path.

Mars Dorian from MarsDorian says –

I get my ideas from sources that are NOT blog related. I get very creative when I watch Japanese animation, see movies and play video games. Seriously. I look at those characters and worlds, and my brain automatically makes a connection to my blog work, which is branding and marketing. That’s also my advice to anyone who wants to kick-ass blog – don’t just read other blogs on blogging. Consume something entirely different and find a way to combine that to your topic and nice. Magic will happen. I promise !

Alex Whalley from keyword Research Tips says –

My top three:

  • Blog commenting: I find that by commenting and actually engaging with the blogger and the post that ideas start to flow as I think about the topic/argument from my own side of the fence.
  • About.com Sitemap – the bees knees for post ideas, albeit somewhat superficial as they are all physical categories and not angles and opinions on a certain niche, but there are thousands of topics listed by niche basically waiting for you to peruse
  • Get sky ping! You can surf the net for ideas, and there are lots of places you can go to get them, but until you start actually talking to other people in your industry you are never going to truly be able to brainstorm. Simply chatting with blogging colleagues can generate tonnes of post ideas!

Erica Douglass from Erica says –

One of my favorite ways to get blog post ideas is to look at popular posts on other blogs like mine. Many blogs have a widget on their sidebar that shows the most popular posts. Can I write a similar article without ripping off their ideas? If so, that’s what I do. Another way I get blog post ideas is to use the Google keyword tool.  I type in a keyword like “business” plus a question word or phrase like “how to”, “how”, or “what”. I often will write blog posts with that title so I can get traffic from the people asking search engines their questions. – Erica.biz

Amy Harrison from Harrisonamy says –

As a copywriting blog for entrepreneurs, most of my ideas tend to come from my client work. I keep a notebook nearby and when working I’ll think about any specific copywriting techniques I use that might make a good post. I also find plenty of ideas by keeping an eye on techniques used in current print advertising and websites as well as studying several books at a time on copywriting. The notebook is essential. Even if your mind’s always on the subject of your blog, those scribbled thoughts are a Godsend when you’re desperate for inspiration!

Catherine Caine from Beawesomeonline says –

The top three places I get my post ideas from:

  1. My readers, usually in the comments or from emails they send me.
  2. Events I’m working through right now.
  3. Stuff I wish I had known a year ago.

Hi Dean,

I wouldn’t get offended, and I don’t know why other bloggers would. I think that’s an excellent way to get blog post ideas. Like you said, you’re not copying the content. And, if you wanted to quote something from the blog, a link back would suffice. I see nothing wrong with that, and a lot of people do this, so feel free.

Hey Dev,

Excellent tips. You gave me some good ideas for when I can’t think of anything to write about. Here are a couple of other methods:

Go to article directories like EzineArticles and browse the categories related to your niche to see what other people are writing about. You can also get ideas by watching YouTube videos in your niche.

I agree that some ways to get good blog post ideas is to read about the topic you want to write about, research and ask other people about it. Sometimes talking about current events and inter-relating them to your topic can also make your article more interesting. Nice post, by the way.
