Entrepreneurship: First Impression Speaks A Billion Words

To be an entrepreneur there are several things you must learn. An entrepreneur doesn’t sit around chitchatting about what they’re going to do, instead there working their asses off. True entrepreneurs can build a business for themselves out of nothing. They don’t take no for an answer, and look for the good in the bad. Remember, something positive always comes out of a negative situation.

Today’s entrepreneur conversation is about the quality vs. quantity of work you promote. Everyone has their different out take on this subject. I’m here today to understand exactly where you stand on this dispute. I will go over the positives and negatives aspects of both sides.

Beautiful Quality

There are numerous reimbursements of only promoting quality work. For starters, when you endorse your best work it has a way of getting around with or without your assistance.

Top notch work will spread around faster than STD’s!

An awesome example would be when I took extra time on an article I was putting together. The outcome was it sparked a lot of attention in the blogosphere naturally. People read it and immediately recognized the effort I put into preparing it. Several mornings back to back my article landed a spot in the top post of the day. It went viral all by itself without my help.

When you uphold your finest work it might not spark everyone’s attention, but it most certainly will spark some attention. People will start perceiving you for your hard working mentality. There is nothing better than truthfully working hard and being accepted for it. For several it will be a colossal motivation builder to thrust you into working even harder.

Excuse me if I’m wrong, but I believe hard work beats talent. Hard work plus talent equals a matchless combination. The top advantage from promoting top notch work is that people will naturally back link to it, thus increasing exposure and page rank!

The Negative Aspects

Promoting your greatest work is going to take additional time off your hands. You won’t be capable to get as much completed in the time you put forth. Stand out work will require more application which is something people don’t like to give away.

Yes, yes I said it!

Doing your best is going to entail you actually putting all your focus into what you’re currently working on. More time, more focus, & more research, so there are negative aspects to promoting top notch work. Time is money around here and you need all the time you have on your side.

Rapid Quantity

You might be one of those people who feel there always obligated to do more of something than anyone else. Your motto is to produce as much content as you can in the shortest time imaginable. That way you can get your brand all over the web in the shortest amount of time probable.

Doesn’t it feel awesome seeing your brand everywhere?

By producing a rapid quantity of work you’re manually constructing back links to your site which is increasing exposure and page rank. Having a speed racing mindset means you give your work less concentration and attention.

The main objective you have is to produce as much as you can in the shortest amount of time thinkable.

You feel it’s better to write 10 mediocre articles in a day, than 3 flawless articles. The purpose behind this is that’s 7 more chances to get your brand out in front of the world. Countless entrepreneurs have this mentality, but they don’t look at the downside to what they’re doing.

The Negative Aspects

When you work like this you considerably lower your chances of articles being accepted. Internet entrepreneurs have the freedom to choose any piece of work they like. Your article has to be top notch. If it seems they have been rushed, hurried, or hassled more times than none they won’t get accepted.

For all those articles that didn’t get accepted you wasted time and put unnecessary stress on yourself! Half ass work requires more promotion on your end which takes time out of your already demanding schedule. One of the biggest negative aspects is that mediocre work will under no circumstances have the chances of going viral. You might as well forget about getting that viral attention.

My Personal Opinion

For a long time I was a believer in getting as much work out as I could. I would attempt to write 5 or more articles in a day! My motto was I was going to write for every blog out there in the shortest amount of time possible. Don’t get me wrong I still hunger to write for every blog I can, but I’m in no rush.

I soon learned much of the work I was did was in vain. Countless times starting out entrepreneurs declined my guest articles, because they could see the effort I put into them. The only thing left for me to do was re-analyze my attack on the game. Instead of writing 5 articles where may be only 2 were published, I wrote one informational packed article. That one article provided me with more link juice than all the other articles combined.

Since that day I have been a strong believer in quality over quantity. I have yet to have a guest post denied, because everyone can see my hard work I put into them from a mile away. In my opinion it’s better to be acknowledged for the quality of work you produce rather than the quantity.

Conclusion

In the quest to become a prosperous entrepreneur figure out what works best for you. If concentrating on the quality of work you promote shows the greatest benefits, then work on improving your quality. You might profit more from your speed in delivering your product.

Everyone’s different in their own way, so find what way works best for you. Whatever way works best, work even harder on mastering it. There are many reimbursements that come from focusing on either one. The key is figuring out which way shows the most positive results for you. What works for you might not work for the next person.

In my opinion, We should focus on what we good. For others aspects, let it be outsourced to the right people/company.

Hey Dana,

Thanks for the comment!

You have a good point. If you can’t write fast there is always the possibility of hiring someone else to do that for you. With times being as tough as they are you might be in a bit of a bind with money though.

Not sure I would have used the reference comparing quality work spreading as quickly as STD’s but was a funny metaphor. In my opinion however quality content does not necessarily equal traffic nor people retweeting or promoting. Catchy headlines and gimmicks still unfortunately dominate the “viral” scene no matter what people say.

Hey Justin,

Thanks for the awesome comment!

I glad you liked the use of my metaphors. ( :
I might of went a bit overboard, but you get the picture. If you promote the best work your capable of promiting good thing will happen on it’s own. People will share your post and help it go viral without your help. Now you should ale ays help, but top quality work does the promotion part for you more time than none.

Hey Jasmine,

Thanks for the kind words!

I’m happy you agree with me the quality is the best way to go in this business or any business for that matter. Your focus has to be separating yourself from the pack. The way that’s done is by providing high quality work. While add your personality into it.

Then you have a formula for success.

we can see your quality William Veasley, this post speaks for itself and i like the way you say quality over quantity…

I too took up many projects at once and failed miserably at all.. i then relaised that it’s best to focus on one – brgin it up to a certain leve and then move on to the next… after all we’re human beings right.. not “super humans”

Hey Sandeep,

Thanks for the kind words!

It’s best in my opinion to focus on one thing at a mind. I naturally have a one track mind so this tends to work out perfectly for me. I just have to separate my tasks and it makes them all the easier to accomplish.

Hope this helps!

Hi William.

Thanks for sharing your lesson.

I had a similar experience, and learned that quantity is important but not at the expense of quality. Your content must be top shelf if you are going to command authority.

Enjoy your weekend!

Hey Ryan,

I always enjoy your input!

Your right on point. Quantity is great if you can keep the quality up. If not, then it’s time for you to figure how much time you need to spend on your content. When you create top notch work your authority rises much faster.

In my opinuion I think that we should try and have both, i.e., have some “speedy” articles and somewhere in between (maybe a ratio of 5:1), a really top notch article, that to considered as a pillar article. Like you said, it is very difficult to create “top quality” articles as they do not come by often times. Now don’t get me wrong about “speedy” articles. They still should be short, sweet and provide some value.

Hey Ditesco,

Thanks for the awesome comment!

Great point. It is hard to always have time to write the best post you can. You may be able to write 2 or 3 of them, but not many more. When you write speedy you may be able to dish out 10 in the same time. I think you should focus all your time on writing the best articles possible. You always want to present the best image of yourself at all times.

Just my 2 cents.

Most niches have become very competitive. A way to stand out would be doing something unique and
of good quality. But when there is a big news related to your topic you better react quick before it’s too late. In that case you may not bring out your best article but you’ll have your voice heard out there.

Hey Alexis,

Thanks for taking the time to comment!

Yes most niches are becoming crowded at a rapid pace. It’s harder and harder to get your voice out. This is why you must always do your best to provide the best work you can. That is truely your best way of getting your word out.

Hello William,

I, like Justin, think that creating quality content doesn’t necessarily mean that you will get the traffic or the reactions you expected. What’s most important in any business that needs to attract the public’s attention is how you market your content, how can you make it stand out.

Of course you need to write something worth reading but, of course in my opinion, is how well you can market your content, how can you make other believe that the content is great!

Quality always wins over quantity. So, its better to write only one or two powerful articles everyday than tons of average articles and reaching nowhere.

It’s right saying that quality wins quantity but only when we start increasing the quantity we will gradually come to know new things and the quality will increase. More quantity – more writing experience so naturally quality will increase.

Yes, yes, YES!

I could not agree with you more. People that are naturally talented at something have often been some of the laziest people I have ever worked with. I would rather work with someone who was half as talented, and hard working; than someone who was lazy and talented.

Great article.

Yes, sometimes in the quest of more and more, you just neglect the quality and after sometimes when you dont get responses to your work then you realize that were throwing your efforts in the wrong direction.
