Being coined a young entrepreneur was difficult in the beginning. Some thought I was crazy. Others thought I would fail. But the majority thought I was just too young. “You don’t have enough experience.” They’d say. “You don’t know enough about the industry – there are many others that are too big; you’ll never make it.” It still amazes me to think how much negativity there is out there. The people who never did anything in their life; the ones who never accomplished anything, are the first people to try to stop you from achieving your dreams. It’s unfortunate, but true.
I wanted to write this short article for all of the Entrepreneurs out there. I want to share with you the 2 steps that you absolutely must follow in order to succeed in your entrepreneurial battle. These step are universal – it applies to every industry. They are as follows:
Set Your Goal And Lay Out A Pathway
This is the very first step. Tell yourself what it is that you are trying to achieve. Be specific. Once you have set this goal, you must lay out a pathway that will allow you to get there – again, be specific. If you do not know how to get there, then you should be LEARNING how to get there.
- Goal - ‘I want to make money by selling Real Estate.’ This is not a goal. ‘My goal is to make 110K a year by the end of the first year by selling medium-class homes.’ This is a more precise goal.
- Pathway – ‘Find customers and sell them homes’ is not a pathway. It is the beginning of one, though. You could make your pathway on paper – and it could look similar to a spiderweb. In the center of one web, you could write ‘prospects’. Lines leaving this word could be ‘online or offline’. Coming from ‘offline’ could be ‘networking events’, ‘information seminars’, ‘referrals from friends’, the list goes on… You see, everything can be branched out and simplified in to small easy steps. Once completed, you will have a great pathway to get to your goals. Be sure to include deadlines.
Start & Don’t Stop
Begin your journey if you haven’t already. And most importantly, don’t stop! I can’t tell you how many entrepreneurs I have either seen or read about that have gotten so close to achieving exactly what they set out to do. But for some reason, they give up and quit – not realizing how incredibly close they were to achieving their goals.
- Remember, business usually has an exponential growth. How much education have you gone through to know what you currently know? How much time effort and energy have you put in to getting started? How much effort have you put in to getting things off the ground? Chances are; a ton! Am I right? So, if you have spent all of that time preparing why quit now? The only thing preventing you from financial success is sales. This usually breaks down to improper marketing and improper lead generation. Learn just a little more and you are back on track! To give up at this point would be like climbing a mountain and stopping 100 feet away from the top and saying “This is too hard, I’m going back home”.
Your Life – Your Results
Remember, not just as an entrepreneur – but as a human; we are in complete control of the outcome of our lives. The choices we make now will directly affect the results in the future. There is no question about it. What you need to ask yourself is ‘On a scale from 1-10; how bad do I really want this?’ If your answer is any less than 10 – you should just hang up the towel. Seriously.
Entrepreneurs are usually coined to make loads of money; not because they are lucky – but because they are goal oriented and don’t give up! They will make it happen no matter what. If there is a bump in the road, they WILL find a way to get around it – failure isn’t an option.
If you remember anything at all from this article – be sure to remember this: YOU are in complete control of your life. YOU can accomplish your goals. You can achieve your dreams. YOU have the power to do anything you want in this world – the only thing holding you back; is yourself. Set a goal. Lay out a pathway. And let nothing and no one stand in your way. You CAN do it!

Hello Brock. You know what, I’ve been told ‘you’re too young’ a thousand times -as I presume you have too. And one day I decided ‘Forget it. I’m gonna do this’ and I’ve never looked back.
Awesome Ivin!
That’s the mindset you need! That’s the mindset we all need! If we truly know that an avenue is truly a great avenue – then we should do it; regardless of what others think.
Remember, those who are giving us negativity are either ashamed that they didn’t do it first, or really have no authority on the topic – and are not a reliable and trustworthy source.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. Much appreciated!
Hi Brock,
Really impressive article, It’s full of passion and zeal. It really makes you feel like Obama said “YES, WE CAN..”
. Well, It’s not a joke but yes you got really passionate language I must admire it.
I totally agreed with your points that as a businessman, Our first priority is setting goals to achieve and here we make our first mistake we choose wrong goal or you can say that we don’t think big only small. If you think small, you’ll try small and result will be small as well. So go for big.
You got it!
Set the proper goal & then set the foundation/pathway that will allow you to get there. Will there be bumps and hurdles? Yes. But we have the ability to get around them.
Shoot for a goal that is comfortable for you. If you shoot too small, you will disappoint yourself. Too large and you may disappoint as well. Shoot for something that is tangible. If becoming an astronaut is tangible for you, then by all means – become one if that is what you truly want to do!
We are limited only by our beliefs. Our beliefs can be overwhelming – especially if we believe that we are going to fail…
Thanks for taking the time to submit a comment. Much appreciated! Thanks for the very kind words!
It is very important to be extremely motivated and willing to succeed especially if you are young, and don’t let others make you feel that you will not succeed, even if your first venture fails you should not give up, since failure is the birth of success as I like to say, thanks for sharing this motivative article!
Regards Kostas
“…failure is the birth of success…” Agreed! Though I haven’t failed at anything, as far as business goes, yet – I feel that failure is quite a rewarding process.
Sure, it’s negative because we have failed, but it’s a great opportunity to learn from our mistakes. Take it and grow from it. We only truly fail when we choose to give up.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving feedback. Glad you enjoyed it!
It certainly hurts when you fail on something but you learn much more from a failure than a quick success and in the long run if you don’t give up failures will reward you…
You got it!!
wow! I think this is the 1st post where we see a video being displayed..
Entrepreneurial Skills are the main catalyst that sets them apart
Hey Swayam!
Well, I don’t know how many videos have been posted here, I know I have one more – so that makes 2 for sure
.
I’m with ya! If you truly want to succeed or dominate in life, having some sort of business skills is important. It is really a universal characteristic that can be applied to many avenues!
Thanks for reading as well as commenting. Much appreciated!
I slightly differ with you on this note – “It is really a universal characteristic”
Imagine if it was truly universal then every new entrepreneur would be reaping super-normal profits in their first month but the ground reality is somewhat different.
It’s like many dream – FEW achieve it
I think maybe we ‘differ’ because of our own interpretations “entrepreneurial skills”.
To me, this is having the mindset that you want to start your own business, understanding the basic marketing skills, knowing the legalities of a particular industry, how to effectively communicate, and how to lead others.”
That’s my definition.
Just to posses these basic skills does not guarantee success – it merely contributes to them. We all have the ability to learn the skills deeply and thoroughly, but some only choose to know the basics…
To me, it comes down to who wants it bad enough. Who wants to learn more and apply more. The truly successful wanted something so bad that, at one point, they were willing to lose sleep and forget to eat because of their drive. They were later rewarded.
Thanks again for your participation. I always love to hear thoughts.
The way you explained the goals and the pathway is very accurate. A lot of us mislead ourselves when we set our own goals or pathways.
I feel that so many of us fail to set the goals and layout the proper pathway. There are still many of those who choose to set their goals and pathway, but do not completely follow through. They give up because they have gotten discouraged or discovered that it takes more work to get there. It’s a shame, really.
Those who succeed are those with passion. They want something so bad that they will stop at nothing to make it happen!

Minblowing points you said that those who have not done anything in their life and achieved nothing will come first to STOP us. Here come challenge. If we works as you the way you suggested here then definately we will shut mouth of such peoples who try to make us fall back by showing us various fear like age, experience, money etc…
Absolutely.
I judge people by not where they are in life, but where they are going. We can’t let age, money, or other factors get in our way. If we want something bad enough – we will find a way to make it happen. Others may judge you in the process, but you must ignore this. Stay focused. Stay determined. Shoot for success and make those who judged you; regret their statement.

.
Brock I agree with you that if you are focussed and determined, success is definitely going to your way.
Goal setting is a difficult task and we need to set a goal that is achievable and once we achieve this goal, we can go forward by adding incremental targets. As you have rightly said that we must be committed to achieve the goals and targets set by us.
You got it Robin!
Determine the big goal, break it down in to small steps, start achieving those small steps. Sounds easy, but most people just dong do it…
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!
Have to set accurate goal and have to achieve that goal with the good support in it.
You are correct, Kavya. An accurate goal is key.
Receiving support when trying to achieve a goal makes it so much easier! Absolutely!
