CPA – The Other White Meat

CPA - The Other White Meat

CPA = Cost Per Action, and it = big checks for me. The CPA model can be very profitable, and often easier to convert than affiliate marketing. The reason being is that a lot of the time, you only need the visitor to insert their name and email address and hit submit in order for you to get paid for the action.

After my first CPA conversion at $4 one day, I decided that it was wise to heavily promote cost per action links from MaxBounty using my niche sites. I could easily throw some high converting products on there, but why when I can just get people to do what they do everyday; input their info and click on submit?

Marketing CPA is a whole different breed than affiliate marketing. You have to be ok with using pop-unders and announcing links on your social media pages. It simply works, and the visitors will not be offended because they want to read the information you put on your niche site.

The math behind CPA is better than adsense

Consider the fact that you have a whole lot of work to do in order to get your adsense niche sites at $3 a day. Now what if you can get your cpa niche sites ranked, and drive traffic through EzineArticles and other sources? Instead of ugly adsense, you will be using banner ads inside of the content, and contextual links. While most visitors avoid adsense ads like the plague, they like in-text links and banner ads that flash and say “click me!”. When they reach the lead page, they see a professionally designed page that was most likely created by PHDs in marketing, and they only have to put in their name and email address (sometimes more info), in order to see what’s on the other side of the page.

CPA takes on many forms

Unlike adsense and most affiliate networks, cpa has various formats for their marketers. For instance, one campaign may allow social marketing and have contextual links as well as pop-under codes to copy/paste. They may have various banners designed with copy/paste code. Often with ClickBank, I find a great product to promote, but the vendor didn’t take it seriously and forgot to provide banner ads. Instantly, I change my mind on promoting them because I may have specifically been looking for banners to place on ad spots within my blog.

CPA marketing is hated on

Unfortunately, cpa doesn’t have the greatest rep with social networks, so they have blocked a lot of cpa network links. In addition, I found that the goo.gl shortener service instantly blocked my maxbounty links even though I didn’t use them in an unethical manner. I have gotten around these issues though by using ninja affiliate or pretty link on the cpa link, then shortening it with any shortening service and posting it on my social profiles.

You have to learn to be creative with marketing, and that is not limited to cpa. Every marketing method primarily used to make money will have it’s haters, and marketers have to be an evolving breed.

Choosing the right CPA

When you first get into cpa, you may be looking wide-eyed at the $30 actions. Do not let the amount fool you. It is cost per action, and that action may be different that the usual “submit your info”. The larger amounts often require a purchase of some sort, just like affiliate marketing. It’s wise to aim for the $1-$5 offers because they mostly require submitting basic information up to the address and phone number of the visitor. A purchase defeats the purpose of the ease of cost per action marketing, and you might as well stick with affiliate marketing.

Is CPA right for you?

I discovered the power of cost per action marketing by accident. I was trying it out on one of my sites because it was popular, and it turned into an income. Ever since, I have been obsessed with it and use it on a daily basis in my marketing efforts. You may have to determine if it is right for you another way though.

Consider this… If you are excited about the possibility of earning a couple bucks with one simple email submission, then cpa is probably something you would be interested in. If you have a large amount of traffic, cpa will probably add a large chunk of cash to your earnings.

Do you use CPA? If so, what’s your experience with it?

I complete accept with ur point that making few dollars per day in adsense requires lot of effort. But adsense remains the backbone of a site that helps to maintain the min revenue each month. If a site is making good money in adsense then it will surely succeed in affiliate also.

CPA isn’t affiliate though, and it requires a lot less work.

I’m sure you will be impressed with CPA once you see it in action, compared to Adsense.

Another reason CPA has a poor reputation is because of networks like CPALead, you know were you visit a site and are forced to fill in a survey just to gain access to the content?

I know about those locked content sites. I close them out as soon as it loads up. There is a such thing as intrusive, and you need not be that way to make money with CPA.

CPA is soooo easy to make money from. I remember I set up the test page and got some free traffic from Facebook and boom in a few days I had viral traffic.

Yeah, VERY easy. It’s like Adsense in a way though, where you have to test ad slots and campaigns. People think you can place a banner and make money with cpa, but you have to test and optimize.

Yeah, without it you won’t be able to promote anything. But as long as you are not flakey, and in an approved country, then all should be good.

Hello Brandon,

I tried CPA on one of my websites that has around 20 000 uniques a day (I used adsense on that one). The website was with wallpapers and those kind of stuff, and I made a decent amount with google, but I hard that CPA is much better, so I gave it a try. The CPA I was promoting was paying 2.5$ per action and it only involved writing your name, nick, email, and birth date.

I might suck at placing the banners (although they were placed exactly like adsense) but I only got in one week I think something around 12-15 signups or so, and almost the same amount of clicks I had on the adsense banners.

So, I think it also depends on the niche of your website and maybe even where you are placing the CPA link. I really don’t know but I fail at CPA.

Oh, if you have any kind of pointers on how to better convert CPA’s I welcome them!

I definitely have tips man. Firstly, banners aren’t enough. You should promote them with autolinking like you do internal articles, and affiliate links. This can be done with Ninja Affiliate. Your rss subscribers will also get active links in their email notifications, which helps allot. In addition, I setup niche sites just like I did with affiliate marketing. EzineArticles pointing to these will help with traffic a lot. It takes some hard work, but it pays off HUGE if you dedicate yourself to it.

You get started just like you would with affiliate marketing, which I speak a lot about on my blog. But a great way to get started right off the bat is to setup niche sites, and promote similar maxbounty items on them.

It has never been a problem for me. If you advertise on your blog from the beginning, then that should never be a problem. If you never try to make money from your blog and then throw it in later, then yes, that can be an issue. However, it isn’t even relevant to niche sites.

Not if they are used to your affiliate marketing. CPA is often less intrusive than affiliate marketing, because people are so used to seeing squeeze pages from ClickBank, and they like the CPA pages better. In addition, if you are really trying to make a large income from CPA, then you will have niche sites setup as well, which have nothing to do with your regular readers.

In my opinion CPA offers can be promoted in some unique ways using ninja tactics and you don’t even need a website to promote CPA offers. You can also use some offline methods to promote free trial offers. I am not suggesting here that using Banners on a high traffic site is not the best way. I would suggest using a content gateway to monetize your traffic but remember the key in any type online campaign is to do a lot of testing to find the winner campaign.

CPA offers are definitely lucrative but generally earning with Adsense is much easier for most people. Succeeding in CPA marketing requires conversion skills whereas with Adsense you don’t have to do much. But I would advice everyone to at least get their feet wet in CPA. If it works, you could be on your way to riches.
