If you have been online for any amount of time, you have most certainly heard of Clickbank. According to their website, Clickbank is the premier online market place for digital information products. So how are they getting a tarnished reputation?
Clickbank is an affiliate marketers “heaven” so to speak. Might as well say it’s the same for product owners too. They can pair affiliate marketers with any number of products to promote, all with one simple tracking number. Sounds like a great partnership, right?
I would 9/10 times agree with the above statement, however, as of December 1st, 2010, I may be changing my position. The all mighty powerhouse of affiliate marketing is teaming up with Internet entrepreneur, Mark Ostrofsky.
Ostrofsky is the author of Get Rich Click and has made millions online. His website is supposed to be a “how to” to make money online. Here in lies my issue with Clickbank teaming up with Ostrofsky. When you visit the Get Rick Click website, you immediately get the feeling of B.S. It has the same overtones of all the get rich quick schemes some of us have fallen prey to when just beginning.
It’s no secret that Mark has created successful business ventures online. He is the seller of Business.com for a record breaking 7.5 million dollars. I don’t question that he has made money and been successful. The issue is in the presentation of the material. In his own words: “Making money on the internet isn’t difficult. It can happen with just a few clicks. Create wealth often without spending a dime upfront.”
Uhm, in my honest opinion, that’s crap. Their are too many scammers people telling you it’s not difficult to make money online. Can it happen with a few clicks? Yes…but not wealth as is being depicted on this website. And when you take the free route, it takes time. Why would you want to buy your way into wealth anyways. Wouldn’t you want to feel the pride of building your business online and then reaping the rewards?
I personally utilize as many free marketing opportunities as I possibly can. They do work. You just need a little more patience. When you start turning a profit, then you can spend some money. Obviously there are business expenses you have to incur, such as auto-responders and web hosting….but this is minimal.
Clickbank already has such a strong presence in the online market place and a good reputation. They pay out on time, they have amazing metrics to analyze your progress and thousands of products for you to promote. So, why, with all this success would they need to partner with someone who gives off the impression you can become a millionaire overnight?
According to the Clickbank press release, this partnership will feature expert advice, how to videos, success stories and proven tips to increase your earning potential online. I was all in until I did my due diligence and researched. Having seen the get rich quick schemes numerous times, I quickly got that chill in my spine when I visited the site. Maybe it’s just me, but I would bet that at least half of you would get the same feeling.
You have probably noticed I didn’t link Ostrofky’s website in this article. I couldn’t do it! You are smart people and I know you will find your way there to check it out. When you do, I would love to hear your thoughts. Am I too sensitive to the get rich quick schemes? Or do I just maybe have a point that Clickbank is tarnishing their reputation?

Hey Lisa,
Interesting information, didn’t knew about that partnership. Even though I haven’t yet started using Clickbank, I’m making a product research right now. From what I know CB are pretty legit and there should be no problems. I believe that as pretty much always, it all comes down to money and still I can’t really tell whether the teem up with Mark Ostrofsky is that bad. However I do agree that the information Mark is giving is kinda misleading. I doubt that with a few clicks you can make money, let alone millions. It’s probably just a sales trick to get more people buying, which doesn’t necessarily mean that the guy’s a scammer. Just my two cents.

I agree with the sales pitch theory. And I always look forward to your two cents!
Hi. Good article. I dont think Clickbank is tarnished.

Let me continue on with what I said. Many successful internet marketers still praise clickbank and recommend everyone to use it. But I do agree with you that there are too many scams on Clickbank.

Yes Edwin, I really like CB….the one thing I notice is if you filter the choices by gravity, the products on the lower end of the totem pole are horrible! Sales pages with misspellings and blatant falsehoods. I don’t know if CB has a review process before accepting a product, but I think they really need to!
I initially used Clickbank to sell my first ebook and was actually just working on a blog post about the experience that I’ll post within a few weeks.
My time with Clickbank was decidedly mixed. I didn’t like some of their procedures and methods, and I didn’t like some of the company I was keeping.
I switched the first product to Paypal, and I have my second ebook for sale with e-junkie. Both of these options have worked well.

I am looking forward to reading about your experience with CB. I am going to have to look into this e-junkie as this is the first I have heard about them!
Lisa, you’ll find them at e-junkie.com.

As long as they don’t try to shove his products up people trouts it’s okay I think(because I am pretty sure newbies will be very attracted to the offer and when the guides will prove useless, this will tarnish clickbank brand).
I never bought a get rich ebook, or any guides that guarantees that you will make you a certain amount per month. Because I know that pretty much every guide will suck, and I don’t have the time or money to weed the rotten ones from the good ones.

Very interesting. I’ve just signed with Commission Junction and was about to start looking into ClickBank this week.
I suspect this new development won’t matter too much to the rank and file. It will probably take the form of special offers and such.
Can’t know for sure until I look more into it, but now that I know this I’ll be looking more closely at what this partnership entails. Thanks for the article.

Hi
This is great sharing and I love affiliating with amazon and commision junction.I also few of with clickbank too.I think amazon is the perfect affiliate marketing place.
Abhishek:
Amazon is a fantastic program. They have made it very easy to incorporate products in our websites. The added benefit is the solid reputation of the company!
Lisa – You couldn’t be more right about these get rich quick schemes. Clickbank has been associated with far too many of these get rich quick products recently. It seems like every time you turn around their is another product launch with the same copywriting, exit popups, and the same click a few buttons and you will be rich in one night.
However, I feel that as long as Clickbank still allows anyone to get a refund on a product they purchased their reputation will be fine. It’s that money back guarantee that lets me purchase a product check it out and get a refund the same day, and even though I know the product was trash I’m not mad because I got my money back. I agree with you though, clickbank should stop supporting these over hyped products.
I have hear about Clickbank very much but never get any success from them. The last, I have try some order for personal things but they declined by card.

Well said Lisa, it’s definitely not easy to make money online. Clickbank’s products have been my favorite affiliate programs to promote. Now I am thinking of moving to advertising opportunities, like adsense.

Hey Lisa,
I wasn’t aware of this partnership, and I’ve been a user of Clickbank for a long time. In fact, I never heard of Mark Ostrofsky until now. Sounds like he’s a bit shady to me, if what you’re saying is true. I can’t stand hype, especially when it gets to the point of misleading people.
Overall, I don’t think this will hurt Clickbank’s reputation. They still have a lot of reputable and legitimate products available to promote. They’re one of the best companies out there.

Hear, hear! I love it when Internet Marketers call it like it is (“that’s crap”). There’s no question it takes work to make money (on or offline) and anyone who tells you otherwise is full of it. Get as far away from them as possible so you hang onto your money.

Here I come to know something new information, I don’t know what the clickbank is? Before I read this post, but in the comment I have seen negative views of users. I see most of users are not believe in clickbank. I believe natural is always good as compare to choose wrong ways.

I was just approved as a Clickbank vendor and I found the
“get rich quick” theme motivating. Of course my common sense
tells me that seriously hard work is required to truly
succeed, as with any venture. I will see how it goes!

I didn’t know about this at all even though I have been using ClickBank for over a year now. Making money online is not something that you achieve in a couple of click lol and you should never tell someone that it’s the truth. It took me well over 8 months to start making a decent amount of money online and I can assure you that it took more than “a couple of clicks”. However I did achieve it by only spending about $10 for a domain name. =)
Clickbank is a great way to earn money and it should not team up with people like this, I get why you wrote this article. In fact no one should team up with people like this if you ask me.
Anyways, thanks for the article and have a great day!
