Cyber crime is on the rise. Hacking groups such as LulzSec have already broken into major bank websites and video game networks such as the PlayStation Network.

In the near future, companies must learn the best ways to encrypt passwords and credit card information, to protect their personal information from Internet thieves.

Many websites are leading the way in raising security to the maximum level by using code encryption through Secure Sockets Layer security certificates, also known as SSL. In this procedure, websites use a security certificate that provides two alphanumeric code keys — a public key and a private key. The public key is a common code that is used to encrypt the information and the private key is used exclusively between the server and the computer people are using. This key identifies the specific computer, so that it knows which computer is accessing his or her particular account.

Each type of security certificate provides a different level of protection, depending on how heavily people want to encrypt their connection with the server. Most websites have settled with using SSL which uses simple alphanumeric codes. However, the number of bits in the code determines the number of characters used in the code, making it more difficult for hackers to decipher them. In many cases, 128-bit SSL encryption defends people’s accounts extremely well. To give people a sense of how safe this is, a 128-bit encrypted key includes trillions of different combinations. If someone wanted the maximum security, they could even ask for a 256-bit SSL which is a huge amount of combinations making it virtually impossible to hack.

Although it may seem difficult to use SSL, people can actually pay for certificates from website security providers such as GoDaddy and Verisign. Prices can vary wildly, for example, the price of a 128-bit SSL certificate from Verisign is $1,500 where as GoDaddy’s rate is $70 per year. Thus, companies should shop around to find the most reliable certificate system that will work for them.

If a company wants the utmost extreme security to safeguard transactions, they could search for an Advanced Encryption Standard, or AES. Many financial institutions and government organizations use it because it is one of the safest key systems to safeguard transactions.

AES algorithms are almost too hard to explain for this article. To say the least, it involves numerous complicated functions, such as 4×4 matrix tables of bytes, repetitions of transformation rounds and numerous processing phases. Although most websites might not go so far as to integrate AES encryption, it is worth the effort if they have many customers who need to keep their transactions private.

There are many ways of encrypting information transfers that we still haven’t mentioned in this article. These are indispensable techniques that many companies need to learn about, if they want to protect their customers’ personal information in the future.

As most bloggers are focused upon English, they could potentially be missing out on a vast readership right now and even more so in the future. A multilingual blog will increase global reach and cultivate a strong international following.

Yep, the tongue-twisting title says it all – there are many ways that you can get lots of twitter followers fast! However, I would like to share with you one of the most effective ways if you are just getting started on twitter, or if you are looking to have a larger follow-base. Remember, the key to success isn’t just to have lots of followers, but lots of targeted followers. So how can you do this? Let me explain.

1. Have A Nice Picture

   

   No Bad Twitter Photos - Get Personal!

   People like to get to known people – so show a picture of yourself. Look happy. Nobody wants to follow a grumpy-looking person! People like positivity; not negativity.

2. Make A Background.

   You will stand out from your competition if you have a custom background. Sizes are usually around 1280×1024. Be sure to put a picture, description, and contact information on the left side of the page so it is visible to all. Be sure it looks professional. You don’t want people to avoid adding you because it looks cheesy.

3. Compelling Description.

   Describe yourself.  Be personal. Even if this is an account for a small business, tell people why you have started this business and what your goal is. People love stories. People love people. But they don’t like profiles that are secretive.

4. Start Following!

   After completing the above steps, it is now time to start following people. Not just anybody, but targeted people who potentially want what you have to offer. I have created a video that will help you get targeted twitter followers fast. It is about 9 minutes. Listen to every detail because there is some really good stuff in there! The site I use to follow and flush is Tweepi.com. Remember:

• Only follow about 750 per day. Twitter may not like you to follower too many more than that. They may think you are spam.
• Follow only people who have the potential to have interest in what you have to offer (explained in video)
• Follow only people who are active on twitter. If they have posted 1 day ago or sooner, then I will add them.

5. Send A Personal Message.

   If you haven’t caught the hint, yet – people like people. They want to know people. So be personal! Once someone has started to follow you, send them a personal message. I like to send them to a link on my blog of me talking. The video basically shares a story with them. It usually makes them happy that they stopped by. This is a good thing. Now they have started to like and trust you. You are no longer a crazy spammer that just wants money or a re-tweet from them! You are a real person!

• You are only allowed about 100 or so personal messages per hour or 2.  If you send a lot – they may block your sending capabilities for an hour. Then you can do it again.
• Be sure to send only true value. Never sell. Never convince. Just value or a friendly hello & welcome!

6. Flush The Un-followers!

   There will always be people that are not going to follow you back. The reason for this is not important in this training. Just know that they are out there; and you should care less. There are plenty of fish in the sea. Log in to Tweepi about 12 t0 24 hours after following, and delete only those who have made a tweet since you have added them. This tells you that they are now tweeting and have avoided following you back. Flush them.

• Never flush people who are following you. For example; if you follow 1000 people and they all follow you back. You then log in to Tweepi and un-follow them so your account has authority (more followers than following). This is BAD. Only un-follow the people who are un-following you (in mass quantities)! Twitter may ban you.

7. Repeat Process!

   Do it all over again. Add, say hello, flush the un-followers. Repeat until you have the amount of followers you are looking to have!

Twitter is a great tool, as you know. You can drive tons of traffic to a particular site, on epic proportions! Remember if you aren’t online, you are missing out on the largest part of your business. When you start talking about all the different ways you can drive traffic to your site, you have to talk about YouTube. It has been sizzling hot for many marketers yet others continue to overlook this highly trafficked video search engine.

Sure, there are plenty of other video search engines, but none of them even come close to YouTube. Consider the statistics gathered by Website-Monitoring.com:

1. 24 hours of video is uploaded every minute
2. YouTube exceeds 2 billion views a day
3. The average person spends 15 minutes a day on YouTube
4. More video is uploaded to YouTube in 60 days than all 3 major US networks created in 60 years

The volume of videos uploaded during 2010 surpassed 13 million hours. When you put all this together, you see that YouTube is the video search engine.

People visit YouTube for all kinds of reasons; some want to stay abreast of the latest entertainment news and watch funny videos, auto enthusiasts visit to check out their favorite cars, do-it-yourselfers maybe needing a video tutorial for a woodworking router they’ve purchased, to a photographer checking out digital camera review prior to purchasing.

Who knows whys they visit? There are more reasons than I could possibly list here. The important thing is the sheer numbers.

Getting Started

I have found that creating an interesting video for YouTube is a lot easier than most people think. Keep in mind you don’t have to be a video expert. All you need is a low cost HD video camera, which you can purchase for around $100.

When it comes to the actual shooting of your video, keep it simple. Less is more. Plan your shoot in advance so you don’t waste time and money. Shoot your video in sequence to keep it organized. Don’t walk and shoot or overuse the zoom feature, as both sequences will likely hit the cutting room floor in the end.

One thing that I actually learned from a quote from Steven Spielberg is that there are three essential shots: the big establishing shot, the mid-range shot, and the close-up. If you use these three essential shots it really helps tell the story of your video with imagery alone.

My First Foray

My first foray into utilizing YouTube traffic was in November of 2007. YouTube had been around for a couple of years and I wanted to see what I could do. So I uploaded a video created by a friend of mine from footage taken by my son Justin of me hot rodding around my hometown in my Shelby Cobra kit car, my dream car.

I was very curious to see how much exposure I could gain and I was very pleasantly surprised. Viewership for the video increased every month and has continued to do so for the past 3+ years. As of this writing, viewership has exceeded 321,000.

I was able to track all of these stats because of the excellent features provided by YouTube. Needless to say, I was really impressed and now have many YouTube videos working for me, and I plan on adding more. If you are not already using YouTube, I would encourage you to get started.

7 Tips to Top Rankings in YouTube

I have learned a lot since publishing that first video back in 2007 including how to highly rank a video within the YouTube search results:

Tip #1 – Be sure to include the keyword phrase you want to rank for in your headline.

Tip #2 – Make sure your video keeps your audience’s attention. If people are clicking away early, your rankings will be adversely affected. The length of your video is not important, as long as it keeps the viewer’s attention.

Tip #3 – You have the opportunity to include a description for your video. It is important that you take the time to craft an interesting and keyword-rich description below your video, i.e. the “Show More” section. You can put links to drive traffic in this area as well.

Tip #4 – Make sure you put your video in the proper category and use the proper tags to help with the rankings.

Tip #5 – Always allow and encourage comments to guide future videos you will be posting. You will also get “likes” and “dislikes” from which you can draw further information. Ask people to add you as a Favorite and visit your site. Include calls to action throughout your video by using text overlays.

Tip #6 – YouTube tracks embeds of its videos, so you can see how your video is spreading to other websites. On that note, make sure that you share your videos with other social networks. If you have a Facebook presence, for example, embed your own videos to further drive your social media traffic.

Tip #7 – Always keep abreast of your YouTube stats. The amount of information you can glean is astounding; you can look at the number of views per day, where they drop off, your male viewers versus your female viewers, great graphs – you can even download this information as a spreadsheet.

The final thing worth mentioning is that you should make sure you stay within YouTube’s terms of use. The easiest thing to run afoul of is using copyrighted music. YouTube can actually detect and remove such music during the upload process, so if you want your video to be presented as-is you should use music that is public domain.

Recently I was exposed to a new feature on Google Feedburner that I hadn’t been exposed to before. Well, actually it was not a new feature, but rather an old one, but new to me as I had managed to miss it when setting up my account.

Now this “new” feature is not something that will make or break my business.  However, it is definitely something that if used, will help optimize it and potentially increase my site visits.

More on this in a bit…

So getting back to the topic at hand… optimizing your Google Feedburner account.  When I say optimizing, I mean leaving no stone unturned and digging in into the features of using an application such as this one, so you can leverage it to the best of your ability.

In this tutorial, I will be doing just that: getting into the meat and potatoes of Google Feedburner and see how we can use this very useful and free application to further our marketing efforts.  I will not however get into the very basics of what is RSS & Feedburner and why use it as I have in my  RSS – Feedburner – What? article.  If you are not familiar with feedburner you can head over and check it out.

I’m going to assume you already have an Google Feedburner account and much like myself until recently, signed up for an account, generated a dedicated feedburner URL for your site, did a few tweaks here and there and left it at that.

Also, I won’t be covering EVERY detail of Feedburner as it would be make this post just too long. However, I will cover what I believe to be some of the best options for optimization.

With that said, let’s begin.

Optimize

You can access this section by clicking on the ‘Optimize’ tab on your Feedburner.

BrowserFriendly

1. Here you can select all options to give your readers to subscribe to your website.  Choose as many options available to you. Why not give everyone the option they prefer?

2. Here you can enter a personal note. This is great use of space if there’s a particular article you want to point out or something new going on you want to share with your readers. It’s valuable real estate, so use it wisely.

FeedFlare

If you are not giving your RSS readers the option to share your content, than you are potentially leaving money on the table.  Sharing equals more eyes on your site!  So make sure to add some sharing options in your feed.

Publicize

Headline Animator

This option is pretty neat in that it allows you to make a customized banner to add to your site or anywhere that allows for HTML.  I think it’s a good idea to add it to your websites footer if your template allows for that option. This only increases your RSS exposure and your chances for getting more subscribers.

Email Subscriptions

Simply copy the generated HTML code and place it on your website.

Note: even if you are not offering RSS email subscriptions directly on your site, if would benefit you to have this option available on the Feed page.

Email Branding

Now here’s the “new” feature that is not so new I spoke of earlier, that I somehow managed to miss.

Under Email Subscriptions, click on ‘Email Branding’. In the Email Subject/Title area, type in ${latestItemTitle}. This coding will place your latest site title into the email subject area as oppose to your Feed title (usually your website title).

The impact of this can be great as it can help increase your click-through rates!

Socialize

The last but definitely not least optimizing function I will cover is ‘Socialize’. Activating this option will allow you to automate posting of your articles to Twitter.  If you post regularly, this will be a great option in that it will save you time; also you lose the risk of forgetting to share your content if done manually.

1. First step is to add your Twitter account.
2. Decide if you want to display ‘title only’ or ‘title and body’. My recommendation is ‘title only’ to allow for retweets.
3. Check to include a link
4. Check to leave room for retweets.
5. Decide if you want hashtags to be automatically added.  This is good if all your content revolves around one particular topic, otherwise choose not to use it.

As you can see from this tutorial, there’s quite a bit of things you can do with Google Feedburner account to make maximize your marketing efforts.

If you are to take away one lesson from this whole tutorial it’s this: study the applications you use diligently!  Even the tiniest of tweaks can have a huge impact on your results, so in other words take your time and read the fine print.

I have not seen this tactic anywhere on the Internet as it just came to me when I was looking at my own YouTube channel and realizing that it was page rank five.

If you are trying to promote your YouTube channel and get a high page rank I am hoping that this will work for you.

Eventually if you do become a YouTube partner you will be able to put valuable links, including anchor text links, onto this page. We all know that YouTube holds some heavy link juice and it would be nice to get some back to your website’s. See the screen shot below. I have at least 7 anchor text links on my ComputerBasics Youtube Channel, all “dofollow”.

So in order to make this work you will need a few things:

1. You will need a YouTube channel to promote.
