3 Ways to Blog with Purpose

“Winners are people with definite purpose in life.” – Denis Waitley

Purpose means that you have a reason for which something exists or is done, made or used.

By now you are probably thinking to yourself, “I know my purpose and my purpose is making money.”  Well, making money is good, but money can’t be the sole driving force behind why you blog.  I think money is a great incentive for you to work hard at doing your best (who doesn‘t like money), but money can sometimes get in the way of your purpose.

Step back and ask yourself this, “Why does my blog exist and what is my blog’s purpose?”

Here are three (3) ways you can blog with purpose.

  • Always keep your eyes on your purpose. Whenever you sit down to write an article keep the purpose of your blog in mind.  This will help you stay focused on producing relevant content for your blog.
  • Write with your readers in mind. If you don’t know what your readers want, ask them.  The only way you will know is to ask.  You can also look through your comments and get an idea of what people chime in on the most.  Don’t forget to check your stats for what people are searching for too.
  • Decide what you want to accomplish.  Your articles must be written in such a way that your readers know your purpose.  Don’t make them wonder about the message you are trying to convey.  Make your readers know and see what your blog is all about.

Final Thoughts

If you always keep your purpose in mind, then you should have no problems producing beneficial, useful and helpful content.  Be consistent with producing meaningful content and you will see that your readers will support you even more.  Not only that, the money will roll in, but you must always keep the purpose of your blog in the forefront.

Do you know your blog’s purpose and what are some ways you blog with purpose?

Hi,

I agree. Having a purpose is very essential to be focused and successful.

I would add that having a long term strategy will help you in making short term goals and actions. This will help you in achieving your online success and you will progress day by day.

Kindest,
Nabeel

Really great post Evely,

You’re absolutely right, when blogging, money should not be your sole purpose but there should be other driving forces – money is only an end.

Thanks a lot for the great post!

@Onibalus very well said. The motive and purpose of your blog should be clear. We should always write for our readers without intending to make profit out of it. After contributing some useful value to our blog, down the lane we can think about how to monetize it.

Regards,
Praz.

Hi Evelyn,

It is always important to have a goal and targets to keep you focused in any business, without them you have no way of measuring what you have achieved. Need to give yourself a timescale to achieve them as well, what you want to achieve in say 90 days and lay out a plan in order to achieve that goal.

Can be difficult to know what to write about if you are just starting and don’t yet have the readership. Again leads back to purpose and what you want to achieve. I think you always have a good idea for say the first half a dozen posts then writers block sets in. Follows on nicely though from Alex’s post from a couple of days ago.

Good post, many thanks for sharing

Hi Simon,
You make some good points.

Yeah, I’ve experienced having writer’s block. When that happens, I simply take a break. After the break and regaining my focus, I tend to get back in the writing groove.

Thanks for stopping by!

You are right Evelyn,
Purpose is one of the most important thing not only in Blogging but also in life. I think it is important to have a purpose and work for it. And in blogging the purpose should be clearly visible. Our purpose in blogging should be to give our visitors the best content

I think, “Write with your readers in mind.” pretty much covers it all; without them, you have no purpose, beyond perhaps a personal diary.

You must also be willing to change and evolve as necessary.
