How to Get 10 High-Quality Links In 30 Minutes Or Less

Don’t quote (or fight) me on this, but I strongly believe that link building makes up about 90% of your SEO success.

There is only so much on-page optimization you can do to push your site up the SERP, but the rest of it will definitely come down to the quality (mostly) and quantity of your links.

The challenge for today: find 10 quality (by “quality” I mean high PR) links from relevant sites in about 30 minutes or so.

All using a free Firefox tool and some common-sense “super-duper secret” (yeah, right!) search engine queries.

Let’s get down to business. Keep Reading →

7 secrets to good sales copy

As much as I would love to think that you are reading this sentence because you saw that the post was written by me and you went ‘ oh totally wicked  dude– I love Alex’s stuff’ I know this is not the case. 1:) because you are not a Ninja Turtle (really, does anyone speak like that?), and 2:) because the reason you are actually reading this is to do with the first secret of good sales copy.

Copywriting is a billion dollar business, and there are thousands of books written on the subject, so it goes without saying that understanding and implementing at least the basics is critical to your marketing success. The Guru’s have turned it into unethical trash, but whether you like it or not – good sales copy is something you are going to have to implement. So let’s look at the six (seven?) elements or ‘secrets’ that make up a well written piece of copy. Keep Reading →

Does Your Website Need a Root Canal?

When was the last time you were excited about going to your dentist for a root canal?

That’s precisely my sentiment about HTML code validation.

Nonetheless, it’s something that needs to be done; so let’s talk about what it is, how to check it, and how to correct invalid code.

Even in our day and age of technological sophistication, search engine spiders are not the brightest things.

They struggle with reading all kinds of code like frames, Flash, and dynamically generated pages. If you don’t know what those are, do not despair – neither do I. I just know they are best to be avoided and that’s good enough for me. Keep Reading →

The all important ‘call to action’

If you are reading this then chances are you are somehow involved in internet marketing,  and therefore have heard the term ‘call to action’ thrown around. In case you are either not a marketer, or you are one but enjoy the view from the underside of a rock then allow me to enlighten you. The call to action refers to the simple idea of making someone take action, whether that be signing up to your newsletter, subscribing to a feed, or clicking an affiliate link.  I agree that it is important that you have a defined call to action in place, especially on the end of each blog post for example – but more important than this, and crucial to the overall success of your CTA (call to action) is your Unique Selling Proposition or USP.
